We are event designers and have been using these for seating at rustic winter parties as well as extra seating at The Rink at Rockefeller Center for guests to put their ice skates on.

These benches have been purchased two years ago and are as solid as the day we purchased them! There is wear on the legs because these were used at an ice skating rink for guests to put their skates on. Cracks, knots, worm holes, and color variations add character to the wood and are not defects.
